Immediate Impact As you know Eugenie Clark has made countless accomplishments, whether the results were quick to happen, or if they took longer to take full effect. In this case, one of Eugenie Clark's impacts to history that took action immediately was her creation of the Mote Marine Laboratory. Yes it took a while to be built and extended, but she was quick to think of the brilliant idea of a new laboratory, and others were quick to realize her amazing feat, so they too contributed. National Geographic states that Mote Marine's "focus has expanded from shark research to include wild fisheries, coral reef restoration, marine mammals, marine biomedical research, and related fields." Which shows that when she founded the laboratory, she made explorations and discoveries that were stored in the laboratory, later to be shown to the public, to teach them the true behaviors and capabilities of sharks, along with discoveries in other aspects such as fish species and lower level organisms. And to prove that she can make discoveries on her own, from the education that she worked hard for and earned. Not to mention all of her countless discoveries that affeted the world for the better. One example being the organism Moses sol that she discovered has shark repelling properties. By sharing this with attractions and facilities that were going to kill the sharks for safety or buisness reasons, she provided a humane way to get rid of the sharks to make the people and the sharks happy.
Long Term Impact/Legacy Eugenie Clark carved the path for so many different things. Yes, she aided in discoveries changing the minds of millions, to let them know sharks aren't dumb, that they can preform tasks just as dolphins can. But, Eugenie Clark also proved that if you graduate college and have kids you don't have to quit your job. After getting her degree in zoology, many bashed her, telling her if she had kids she would only have the option to go home to take care of them, and never use the degree. She proved them wrong by making countless discoveries, and by changing the ideas of women at the time. When the men were at war, in WW2 Clark took the job of marine science. When they returned after the she didn't leave, in fact she acceled in her job. It was quite apparent that she was one of the few women in her entire field, but that didn't stop her. Many other women recognized her act of courage and they too joined male-heavy fields. Today, women are getting closer to meet the age gap together, and change sexist views, which couldn't of been helped without Eugenie Clark.
